NZPCA Examiner Clinics – Supporting Skill & Confidence Across Pony Club
Why do these clinics matter?
Certificate exams are a key part of the Pony Club journey. They give riders clear goals, encourage learning, and help track progress at every level.
To make sure these exams (as well as B, A and H assessments) are consistent, fair, and supportive, we rely on confident, well-trained examiners—many of whom are also active coaches at rallies.
These clinics are a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and build confidence.
These NZPCA-funded Examiner Clinics are designed to support and upskill:
Examiners who are just starting out or already experienced
Anyone interested in becoming an examiner
Officials, parents, supporters, or older riders who want to understand the certificate sysllabus system
Current examiners needing a refresher or update
Technical Delegates (TDs) needing to meet update requirements
What the clinics cover:
Each clinic may include one or more of the following each day:
D, D+, and/or C Level Examiner training
C+ Examiner training (for new and updating C+ examiners)
B Examiner training (for upgrading from C+ and updating B examiners)
Who organises them?
C+ and B examiners attend these clinics (run by the Area with input from National or Association Coaches) to gain or maintain their qualification. Their names are then listed on the official NZPCA Examiners Register.
At D and C levels, clubs and branches are responsible for identifying and supporting examiner training—with National Coaches available to help guide the process where needed.
Spaces are limited, with priority given to current examiners and those wanting to upskill and become examiners.
How often?
Clinics are held annually and rotate around the country, with every Area having the opportunity to host on a four-year cycle. All examiners must attend a clinic at least once every five years to stay current.
Whether you're already examining, supporting certificate riders, or just want to better understand the Pony Club syllabus system—these clinics are a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute.
Everyone is welcome — come along, learn, and be part of growing confidence, consistency, and community across our riders, coaches, and Pony Club future.
