2011 NZPCA PC ACHIEVERS AWARDS

CATEGORY A:

Jolin Morel is a 19 year old member of the Manawatu Pony Club, Manawatu West Coast Area, has been a pony club member for 11years and holds B certificate.
Jolin represented the Manawatu West Coast Area at the NZPCA Dressage and Horse Trial Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He coaches at rallies and assists with judging and setting up at shows and horse trials.
Jolin was placed 2nd in the NZ Junior Eventing Championships in 2010 and 3rd in the Young Rider Eventing Championships in 2011 and currently he events at Intermediate level.
Jolin has gained scholarships in NCEA Y12 for Chemistry and Geography and in Y13 he took Massey papers in Chemistry and Calculus and gained a scholarship in Classical Studies, Biology and Chemistry, at present receiving an A average at University.

His DC says: Anything Jolin turns a hand to he always achieves to a high level. But most of all he is a rider at Pony Club that our younger riders see as a role model and they enjoy seeing him at branch and club level coaching.

Francesca Silver is a 17 year old member of the South Wairarapa Pony Club, Wairarapa Wellington Area.
Francesca has been a pony club member for 8 1/2 years and holds B certificate. She was a member of the Wairarapa Wellington team to the 2009 Horse Trials Championships which placed 2nd overall and won the Horse Management award. She was a member of the 4th placed Wairarapa Wellington show jumping team at HOY in 2011, winner of the NZ Junior ODE National Eventing Championships in 2011 on a horse she schooled herself from scratch.
Francesca was Dux of Y11 at College and an Honours student in 2010. She won sports awards for athletics in 2009 and 2010, and achieved 3 triathlons with merit in 2011.
She helps with fundraising, working bees, and as a demonstration rider at coaches and examiners clinics.

Her DC says: Francesca participates in all Pony Club activities inspiring younger members with her attitude and achievements

Katie Meredith is a 17 year old member of North Canterbury Pony Club, Canterbury Area. Katie has been a member for 12 years and holds B certificate.
Katie was a member of the South Island Pony Club Show Jumping Champs in 2011 the team was placed 4th overall. The Winner of the 2010/11 Young Rider series at 1.40m, HOY 2011 3rd in Junior Rider of the Year, 1st in Intermediate Rider of the Year, member of the NZ Trans Tasman Young Rider Team 2011 and qualified for the 2010 Youth Olympics. Katie has had numerous other show jumping successes at 1.30m and 1.40m.
In NCEA she gained merits and excellences at Level 3, she was also in the school orienteering team.
She coaches at her branch, is an active member of the junior committee, coaches PC teams and mentors team members.

Her DC says: Katie is a very unassuming, mature young lady, her riding successes are numerous. She enjoys teaching and mentoring others and is well regarded and popular amongst her peers.

Hannah Trott is a 17 year old member of the North Taranaki Pony Club, Taranaki Area.
Hannah has been a pony club member for10 years and holds A Riding certificate.
She was a member of the winning Taranaki Horse Trials championship team in 2010, and in 2011 runner up for the A1 cup. She won the Taranaki Area Dressage trial in 2010 and was a Dressage team member in 2010 and 2011. She was a member of the winning Taranaki Show Jumping team at HOY in 2010 and of the winning Show Hunter championship team, 1st in equitation and overall in hacks.
She trialled for the 2011 Inter Pacific National selection at Nga Tawa, and was also a member of a Branch Games team at 2011 Zone 3 Finals.
She coaches at D /D+ level and coaches games, and helps at rallies.

Her DC says: Her bubbly disposition and friendly confident attitude is liked within her pony club by members and officials, she has a wonderful and infectious smile


CATEGORY B:


Kirsty Parsons is a 17 year old member of Heretaunga Pony Club, Hawkes Bay Area.
Kirsty has been a pony club member for 8 years. She coaches at D and D+ level and she enjoys helping and passing on knowledge to others. In 2010 she was awarded the Dooney Cup for her willingness and achievements in pony club.
She attained Sports Colours in Equestrian in 2010 and 2011 and was awarded the Y11 Emily McGregor Cup for enthusiasm, integrity, courage and loyalty in 2011.
She competes at show hunter eventing and dressage.

Her DC says: Kirsty is a regular attendee at pony club rallies; she is passionate about riding and is very willing to help out at events.

Farran Ormond is a 20 year old member West Auckland District Pony Club, Waitemata Rodney Area.
Farran has been in pony club for 10 years. She serves on her branch committee and is the grazing manager at her branch. She received the Yolande Morgan Award in 2010; awarded for exceptional participation and contributions to pony club. Farran also coaches and helps younger riders.
In 2011 she was chosen as one of three finalists in the Lion Nathan Customer Service Person of the Year.
She also participates in Funds for Heart fundraising.

Her DC says: Farran is a young person who has blossomed with friends and friendships gained at school, the workplace, in sport and at pony club. She is popular with young riders, her peers and adult members alike.
