2008 NZPCA PC ACHIEVERS AWARDS

CATEGORY A:

Stacey Anderson is a member of Ashburton Pony Club in the Ashburton, South Canterbury, North Otago Area. She is 17yrs old and has her B certificate.
Stacey says she attends working bees, dressage judges, gear checks, coaches and helps cross country train her branch riders.
Her equestrian achievements have been: NZ horsemanship team to South Africa, NZ Junior S/J champion rider of the year at HOY, competing at Grand Prix level s/j with many placings,
Many placings at 1 & 2 star Grand Prix level 07/08.
Outside equestrian Stacey is equally talented attending Ellesmere College NCEA Level 1 & 2.
She is involved in college Volleyball and has represents her school and the Canterbury Area including being captain in 07, she also plays rugby for her school and Canterbury.
She was nominated for a Zonta sports award and was winner of most outstanding individual achievement by a young sportswoman specialising in one sport: equestrian, and was runner up in young sports woman of the year in the same category, she has been nominated as a SPARC future champion, holds college sporting blues in rugby, equestrian, and volleyball.
Her DC says: that Stacey is an unassuming young lady dedicated to equestrian, and has shown quiet determination to achieve the very best and is always willing to help younger riders.

Sarah Lauder is a member of the Kumeu District Pony Club in the Waitemata Rodney Area. She is 20yrs old and has her A riding certificate.
Sarah says she helps with working bees, getting sponsorship, coaching, printing ribbons and building s/j courses.
Her equestrian achievements include: 1st place in A1 section Area Trial 07/08, 1st placings at Hunua, Waitemata HT and at the Kihikihi World Cup Qualifier 08. HOY 07/08 for show hunter, placed 3rd and 6th in 07 and 6th, 2nd and 3rd in 08.
Sarah attended Kaipara College and is currently in her 3rd year of a Bachelor of Communications degree at Massey University achieving many A’s.
Sarah also has a yellow belt in Wing Chun Kung Fu.
Her DC says: Sarah has always helped to print ribbons, judge and help at working bees, she helps her peers and younger PC members. Sarah would be the most valuable and consistent role model for the younger members of Kumeu District.

Holly Morrell is a member of the Taupo Pony Club in Bay of Plenty Area. She is 17yrs old and has her B H/M.
Holly has attended a D level coaches course and has taken the lead rein and D levels at pony club. She says she is her clubs publicity officer and also helps at the RDA and ILPH.
Holly has a varied equestrian achievements including: Zone Games 07/08, BOP Team for Masterton, NIPC S/J team 07/08, BOP dressage champs team, 07/08 show hunter championships, HOY 08 in dressage.
Holly attended St. Peters School, and has achieved the school s/j award and top Y12 equine studies student and received sports colours in equestrian and in 7th form was a boarding house prefect. Nomiated for a Waipa Sports award in 07.
Her other interests are powerboat racing, dual car sprints and snow boarding.
Her DC says: Holly is an active member of Pony Club and loves all aspects of Pony Club competing successfully in all disciplines, she is an excellent team member and role model.

Douglas Thomson is a member of the Wellington Pony Club in the Wairarapa/ Wellington Area, he is 18 yrs of age and holds his B certificate.
Douglas says he coaches at pony club helping with games and cross country and assists at working bees. He was a junior school leader and was in the yr 9 Peer Support Programme.
In equestrian Douglas has been Reserve for NZPCA Dressage 07, A1 member of the NZPCA HT Champs team 07/08, captain in 08, Captain 08 Mounted games team, Kelt Capital S/J at HOY 08, as well as representing Wellington PC in Show Hunter and Show jumping, he also competes at Intermediate HT placing 6th in the 08 NZ Young Rider Championships.
In 2007 Douglas was Dux of Aotea College, gained excellences in Economics, Mathematics and Physics. Offered a Otago University scholarship, presently studying Computer Systems Engineering at Victoria University.
Douglas also plays soccer.
His DC says: Douglas is a rare and extremely talented young man. As a PC member he is an inspiration to younger members offering timely advice and guidance.


CATEGORY B:


Alexa Barrow is a member of the Nelson Pony Club in the Marlborough, Nelson, West Coast Area she is 19yrs old and has been in PC 13yrs, she has her C+ certificate and is working towards her B.
Alexa has been her branches rally co-ordinator for the last 18mths, she has an interest in mounted games and has attended several workshops and coaches her local riders in games skills.
She also helps out at rallies, teams events and camps and often helps out other rider with ‘unruly ponies’.
She has been in team events including Springston Trophy, Mainland Games and Able Tasman, she also represented the SI in the 2006 NI Games Champs.
Alexa used to dance in Tap and Ballet but dropped these in favour of equestrian interests, she would like to be a Psychologist.
Her DC says: Lexi has always impressed me as a mature, pleasant and dedicated young rider. She is a loyal member of her branch and a highly value member.

Amanda Eke is a member of the Whangarei Pony Club in the Northland Area she is 24yrs old and has been a member of PC for 19yrs, she has her B certificate and her Gold ‘O’ certificate.
Amanda is the assistant head coach of her branch, is a qualified C certificate coach and a C+ examiner. She coaches and examines on a regular basis and has recently taken on the role of secretary, she also helps organise ribbon days and attends working bees.
Amanda has a diploma of sports and recreation and a Bachelor in Education ( Primary Teacher).
She gained her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, also has a Black Belt in Martial Arts, and in 2006 and 08 won the Rodeo Queen (Mid Northern Rodeo ) Competition.
Her DC says: Amanda is an enthusiastic member of her branch and inspires other riders at all levels. She works happily with new PC members and with riders at higher levels. The fact that she is a C+ examiner and C coach at the age of 24yrs speaks for itself.
