WORKING RALLIES

The working rally is the backbone of The Pony Club.

A working rally is one at which instruction is given and is open to all riding Members of the Club or Branch.

It may be either a mounted or unmounted rally.

An unmounted rally is a great way to focus on horse management. These sessions often support NZPCA programmes like Introduction to Equine Skills, Equine Skills, and the Pet N Sur Pony Club Academy. They also link into the Record of Training and can count toward achievement badges.

Rallies vary in length from an hour and a half to whole day rallies and even camps.

Rally plans include gear checks, a safety briefing, and the fun main lesson of the day.

They should also include horse management sessions, games and activities. Longer rallies can include extras like treks, hunts, competitions, or quizzes.

All riders riders are encouraged to work towards gaining certificates for the syllabus and our NZPCA programmes.
