
The New Zealand Pony Club Association mourns the loss of one of its esteemed Life Members, Kerry Currie, who passed away on Wednesday 2 April. Kerry’s involvement in Pony Club began at Whitford Pony Club before 1987, and over the decades, she became an essential figure within the community, contributing extensively at both local and national levels.
Kerry was instrumental in developing Pony Club certificates and examination syllabi and served on various committees, including the Education and Development Committee. As the Head Coach for both Clevedon and Auckland Manukau Pony Clubs, and President of the Auckland Area Pony Club, Kerry’s influence on the sport and its participants was both profound and far-reaching.
Her work extended to significant event organization, serving as Secretary for AAPC Champs Week, and she was renowned for her expansive knowledge and dedication to Pony Club. Beyond her professional contributions, Kerry was a dedicated family woman, balancing her immense responsibilities while raising her children and supporting her grandchildren.
Kerry Currie will be remembered for her tireless dedication to Pony Club, her leadership, and her ability to inspire and educate generations of riders. Her legacy will undoubtedly endure in the principles and practices she championed throughout her life.
