NZPCA Rising Stars

This page is designed to introduce and recognise some of our Pony Club Rising Stars within the various competitive equestrian disciplines.

Logan Massie
Logan has been a member of Dannevirke Pony Club since he was five. In those twelve years he has represented his Club and Area in many disciplines : Zone Games , North Island Teams Training (twice) , Timberlands(four times), Cambridge (four times) and Horse Trials Championships.

This season, Logan’s last before leaving the pony ring, has seen him win every major Pony Show Jumping title- the National Show Jumping Championships at McLeans Island, the Pony Grand Prix Series and Pony of the Year- on his lovely grey Kick n the Clouds. This feat has never been achieved before At the 2011 Horse of the Year he also won the Junior Rider of the Year on Kiwi Ludo. This was a huge achievement, as he was on a catch ride competing against riders who has develeloped a partnership with their mounts over the season.

To top off the Horse of the Year, Logan was also a member of the winning Saba Sam Team.

Jessica Woods
Jessica Woods from Ohaupo near Hamilton is a member of Parenga Pony Club. Jessica and her wonderful mare “Too Predictable” added to their already impressive string of success when they won the Charisma Trophy for the New Zealand Young Rider One Day Event Championship held at Pukemarama, near Foxton on 2nd & 3rd April. Jessica lead the field after the dressage phase and incurred no further penalties in either the cross-country or showjumping.

18 year old Jessica has a comfortable lead in the Massey University Young Rider series, although there are a number of events yet to run before the conclusion of the series at the NRM Taupo Three-day Event on 20-23 May.
