CLEVEDON PONY CLUB
We have had a busy start to the New Year, with the Zone 1. New Zealand
Horse & Pony Magazine Games being held at Clevedon in late January.
Clevedon had two teams competing with a lot of young riders and did well
to get into several A Finals.
We would like to thank Sunny .... for
generously giving up his time to coach both teams prior to the event and
being there encouraging and organising the teams on both competition
days.
The weather was extremely hot and everyone appreciated the shade
of the big beautiful trees at the A & P Show Grounds.
One of our
riders, Ashley White, has gone on to compete in the North Island Games
Finals in Napier.
Our Twilight Dressage Evenings held on Thursday the 24th & 31st of
January were a great success probably due to the awesome weather
conditions and our Show Jumping/Show Hunter Cross Country Practise
Nights held on Thursday 21st Feb & 28th Feb were well supported by the
local riding community, with many riders asking when we were running
more!
On the 3rd of Feb some of our members competed at the Manukau District
Day held at Papatoetoe Pony Club, where they could compete in dressage
individually or pairs, show jumping and games, with our two Clevedon
Teams coming 1st and a very close 3rd in the games.
Our members have also enjoyed a ride to Duders Reserve on the 9th of Feb
and more recently a Camp at Wild Valley Farms (out past Glen Murray) on
the 7th, 8th & 9th of March, where the children enjoyed jumping lessons,
trekking over some very steep and challenging trails through a pine
forest, orienteering on horseback, and a treasure hunt. Once again the
weather was fantastic and children made the most of the lovely swimming
pool there!
Clevedon Cool Cats, one of the three teams entered in the Manukau
District Teams One Day Event held recently, was lucky enough to be
awarded the Team Commitment Shield.
Two of our Senior riders will soon be off to compete at Timberlands and
we wish them good luck!
Coming up we are looking forward to our Closed Events - Hunters Cup on
the 15th of March, One Day Event 5th April and Ribbon Day on the 19th of
April.
We wind up our season with our AGM & Prize Giving on the 9th of May.
