NZPCA Long Service Coaching Award

Objectives:

To celebrate Long Service Coaching commitment to the NZPCA. 

  • Gold Long Service = 25 years or more
  • Silver Long Service = 15 years (nominated and recognised locally)
  • Bronze Long Service = 10 years (nominated and recognised locally)

​​​​​​​Area’s responsibility:

  • Areas need to forward their Gold level nomination for Coaching Long Service Award to NZPCA head office by 1st April each year.
  • Areas are responsible for purchasing the Bronze and Silver Long Service Award badges from the NZPCA E-Shop and award these to their recipients at their discretion or at local Area meetings.
  • Areas are encouraged to recognise their own nominated coaches for each level (Bronze, Silver, Gold), profile them in local newspapers, announce them at pony club events, etc.
  • All Area nominations will be recognized at Coaches Conference. The Area should encourage all nominations to attend the awards dinner. If the Gold recipient is not in attendance at the Coaches Conference, a representative from their Area can collect the award from Coaches Conference and the Area will arrange a suitable occasion for the presentation.
  • A typed Citation of no more than 300-words. 

How does it work?

Areas nominate one Gold, Long Service Coach who has a long-standing association with coaching at Pony Club. This award will be made at  NZPCA Coaches Conference

The Presentation:

The Gold recipients will be announced and awarded annually at Coaches Conference Awards dinner. 

NZPCA responsibility:

Only NZPCA will supply and award the Gold Long Service Award (one per area) at the Coaches Conference Awards dinner and we encourage recipients to attend and receive their award. Bronze and Silver coaching awards can be purchased by Branches/Clubs/Areas from the NZPCA E Shop.

Pony Club Coach of the Year


Award Objectives:

               

Coach of the Year – to Nationally recognise and acknowledge Pony Club Coaches who display

the qualities that will positively influence riders.


Criteria for Coach of the Year – may include but is not limited to the following:

i. an Adult, Life or Riding member of NZPCA

ii. is actively coaching at Pony Club

iii. is enrolled in ECTP or has an ECTP qualification or other equine qualification

iv. undertakes ongoing professional development

v. inspires young riders to aim to achieve higher levels

vi. actively encourages riders to progress through certificate levels

vii. a coach can be re-nominated if unsuccessful in previous years


How does it work? 

  • Branches and Clubs without branches fill one nomination form and send it to their Area by a set date.  (To be advised by Area to Branches).
  • Nominations to be sent in on the official nomination form (no additional information is to be attached.)
  • Areas may nominate or re-nominate one Coach to go forward to NZPCA for Coach of the Year recognition.  
  • Area Chairperson / Secretary to sign and forward the forms to NZPCA by 1st April each year

       Note: All questions on the nomination form are to be completed 


The presentation:

The winner will be awarded annually at Coaches Conference. NZPCA will award the Coach of the Year perpetual shield and an individual presentation for the Coach of the Year to retain. The winner should be encouraged to be present at Coaches Conference awards dinner.

Note: All final Area nominations will be recognised at the Awards Dinner.


Area’s responsibility:

  • Areas are encouraged to recognise their own nominated coaches, profile them in local newspapers, announce them at pony club events, etc.

If the recipient is not in attendance, a representative from their Area can take the National award from Coaches Conference and the Area will arrange a suitable occasion for the presentation

Pony Club Young Coach of the Year


Award Objectives:

               

Young Coach of the Year – to Nationally recognise and acknowledge Young Coaches who are following the ECTP pathway and display the qualities that will positively influence riders.


Criteria for Young Coach of the Year – may include but is not limited to:

  • Riding or Adult member of NZPCA
  • aged between 18 years and under 25 years
  • is enrolled in ECTP or has an ECTP qualification
  • is actively coaching at Pony Club
  • actively inspires young riders to improve their riding and horse mastership
  • exemplifies the ideal Role Model of a Coach


How does it work? 

•             Branches and Clubs without branches fill one nomination form and send it to their Area by a set date.  (To be advised by Area to Branches).

•             Nominations to be sent in on the official nomination form (no additional information is to be attached.)

•             Areas may choose one nominations to go forward to NZPCA for Coach of the Year recognition.
